Requirement for Board Certification

In order to facilitate processing of your Board Certification, you are required to submit the documents which are indicated in the check list given below along with the receipt for payment of the processing fee of Rs.25,000.00; which is payable to any branch of the Bank of Ceylon to the credit of Ac. No. 193413, Bank of Ceylon, Danister de Silva Mawatha, Colombo 08.

01. A letter requesting for Board Certification.

02. The “paying-in-slip” (pink colour) duly certified by the bank to confirm payment of the processing fee.

03. Report/s from the overseas trainer(s) to confirm satisfactory completion of your overseas training.

04. Report/s from the local trainer(s) to confirm satisfactory completion of your local training.

05. Evidence to confirm that your signature has been placed in the “Register of Overseas Training” before departure from the country and after arrival in the country, with dates.

06. A letter from the employer (DGHS / Vice Chancellor/ Commander of Armed Forces or other) to confirm resumption of duties following return to the country with the date of resumption of duties.

07. A no claim certificate from the Deputy Registrar, PGIM.

08. A no claim certificate from the Librarian, PGIM.

09. A no claim certificate from the Deputy Bursar, PGIM, in the case of a recipient of a PGIM Scholarship.

10. A trainee from the state sector who has resigned or vacated post before or after returning to the country following overseas study leave should submit a “letter of clearance” from the Head of the relevant organization (DGHS/Vice Chancellor/ Commander of Armed Forces or other) to confirm the repayment of the bond and settlement of all other dues.

11. Completion and acceptance of all other requirements stipulated in the Prospectus or those approved by the BOM / Senate as eligibility criteria to sit for the Pre Board Certification Assessment (PBCA) and Board Certification.

12. The trainees have to abide by other stipulations, if any, as specified by the Boards of Study introduced from time to time with the approval of the Board of Management, and the Senate.

13. PBCA Report and date of passing the PBCA (applicable to trainees who completed the MD Part II Examination from August    2011 or before as per Prospectus of the relevant specialty).

14. The trainees who commenced post MD training before 01.08.2011 should comply with the following Pre Board Certification requirements as specified by individual Boards of Study:

Anaesthesiology trainees are required to submit reports on their “outstation Senior Registrar appointment”, “chronic pain module” and also the study / audit and interview by the Board of Study on the day the Board of Study considers your Board Certification.

Surgery trainees are required to submit their log books along with the above documents and turn up for an interview by the Board of Study on the day the Board of Study considers your Board Certification.

Paediatric trainees are interviewed by the Board of Study on the day the Board of Study considers your Board Certification.

Obstetrics & Gynaecology trainees are required to make a 15 minute presentation on overseas training to the Board of Study on the day the Board Certification is considered.

Community Medicine / Community Dentistry trainees are required to make a 15 minute presentation on overseas training to the Board of Study on the day the Board Certification is considered.

Radiology trainees are interviewed by the Board of Study on the day the Board Certification is considered.

Dermatology trainees are required to make a 30 minute presentation on overseas training to the Board of Study on the day the Board Certification is considered.

Microbiology trainees are required to make a 15 minute presentation on overseas training to the Board of Study on a date determined by the Board of Study.

Oral Surgery trainees are required to submit a case book as a pre-requisite for Board Certification

Psychiatry Trainees are required to submit a dissertation as a pre-requisite for Board Certification

Clinical Oncology trainees are required to submit a dissertation as a pre-requisite for Board Certification

Medical Administration trainees are required to make a 15 minute presentation on overseas training to the Board of Study on the day the Board Certification is considered.

Ophthalmology trainees are required to submit a dissertation as a pre-requisite for Board Certification

General Medicine trainees are required to submit a research / Audit (from 2008 August Batch onward) as a pre-requisite for Board Certification and a updated CV.
