PGIM ORATION
PGIM Oration 2026 – Call for submissions
The Director, Postgraduate Institute of Medicine (PGIM), of the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka invites submissions from eligible candidates for the PGIM Oration, which will be held as part of the Annual Research Symposium (ARS) of the PGIM scheduled to be held on 6th November 2026.
Eligibility criteria:
1. Be within 7 years of Board Certification or obtaining PhD
Submission Guidelines:
1. The oration should be written in full, and the script of the oration should be submitted,
2. The IMRAD format is suggested unless the content requires otherwise,
3. A substantial part should be based on original research,
4. Use Vancouver or Harvard reference style,
5. Your any research involving human or animal subjects,include the ethics clearance statements in the methods section,
6. Clinical trials should have been registered in the Clinical Trials Registry,
7. The Oration should be submitted as a PDF document: written in Times New Roman Font size 12 with double line spacing. Do not include author names or affiliations, to facilitate a double-blind peer review.
Applicants are encouraged to include, where appropriate, a brief reflective component within the oration that highlights how the research was conducted. This may include the rationale for methodological choices, challenges or obstacles encountered, and how these were addressed. Such insights will add depth to the presentation by demonstrating critical thinking and problem-solving, while also enhancing the impact of the oration by inspiring the audience through the sharing of real-world experiences and lessons learned during the research process.

The Editorial Committee of the Annual Research Symposium of the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine (PGIM) of the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka invites abstracts from all trainees and trainers of the PGIM to be considered for presentation and publication at the Annual Research Symposium (ARS) of the PGIM to be held on the 6th of November 2026.
Author Guidelines
The main theme of the symposium is “Training tomorrow’s specialist rethinking learning, assessment and accreditation in the era of AI”.
However, the symposium will accept abstracts related to, but not-limited to the following academic areas:
- Clinical Sciences
- Laboratory Sciences
- Basic Sciences
- Multi-Disciplinary Sciences including Health Informatics
- Medical Education
All accepted abstracts will be published in a Special Supplement of the Journal of the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine (JPGIM). Authors of accepted abstracts will also be invited to submit full papers to the JPGIM.Please note that case reports or case series are not accepted at this symposium. Primary research, systematic reviews and meta-analysis are accepted.
Abstract guidelines:
- The abstract must report original research not previously published elsewhere.
- Title: The title should be brief and reflect the study reported. Capital letters should be used only for the first letter in the first word of the title and proper nouns.
- An author may submit a maximum of one abstract as a single author and up to three abstracts as a co-author. No author shall submit more than four abstracts in total,
- Priority will be given to authors affiliated to the PGIM, University of Colombo (as a trainee, trainer or an examiner) and should be mentioned as at least one of the affiliations,
- The authors’ names and addresses:
- a)Capital letters should be used only for the initials and the first letters of the surnames of authors,
- b)The address of the Institution where the work was carried out should be included under the author’s name,
- c)If the collaborators are from different Institutions, the addresses of the institutions should be included in brief,
- Keywords: A maximum of five,
- Format: Abstract shall be structured as Introduction, Objective, Methods, Results, Conclusion
- Length: Maximum 300 words, excludingtitle, author affiliations, acknowledgements, and key words.
- Standard abbreviations of SI units should be used,
- Acknowledgements should be restricted to the names of funding agencies providing sponsorship,
- The abstract should be coherent and free of language errors,
- A covering letter signed by all co-authors, including the last name of all authors with initials and their affiliations and signatures should be uploaded along with the abstract.

The Editorial Committee of the Annual Research Symposium of the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine (PGIM) of the University of Colombo invites abstracts on Postgraduate Medical Education related to Medical Library Sciences, Administrative, Financial and Managerial Aspects, to be considered for presentation and publication at the parallel session of the Annual Research Symposium (ARS) of the PGIM to be held on the 6th of November 2026.
Author Guidelines
This parallel session in the PGIM Annual Research Symposium will accept abstracts on Postgraduate Medical Education related research in Medical Library Sciences, Administrative, Financial and Managerial Aspects from Librarians, Administrative and Academic Supportive staff from the University of Colombo.

- The abstract must report original research not previously published elsewhere.
- Title: The title should be brief and reflect the study reported. Capital letters should be used only for the first letter in the first word of the title and proper nouns.
