1. What aspects should I consider when selecting a PG specialty?
This is a life-changing decision with long-term consequences. Therefore, you need to consider multiple aspects when selecting the field, you wish to specialize in. In addition to your interest in the field, you need to identify your strengths and weaknesses to decide if your preferred specialty suits you best. Furthermore, speak to current trainees and experts, refer to the prospectus (https://pgim.cmb.ac.lk/courses-2/ ) and resources available to understand the commitment required to successfully complete the intended programme.
2. Minimum requirement to start a PG programme at PGIM?
Generally, the minimum work experience to enroll in a study programme offered by the PGIM is 01 year of post-internship. However, certain programmes require additional experience as specified in the prospectus (https://pgim.cmb.ac.lk/courses-2/).
3. How can I obtain details of the structure and content of the study programme?
The PGIM website contains prospectuses of all study programmes offered by the institution. Further, the CGU webpage contains further details and simplified progress pathways for each specialty. Links for each are stated below.

4. I want to discuss choosing a PG programme. To whom I can talk?
We highly recommend you speak to experts in your field, current trainees and alumni of your study programmes. Details of the course structure are available on the PGIM website (https://pgim.cmb.ac.lk/courses-2/), you may also view the multiple resources available on the CGU website and participate in career guidance programmes conducted by the PGIM.

5. What are the course fees and other expenses, and conditions of payment?
6. What are the benefits of following a programme offered by PGIM over other postgraduate courses?
Except for a few, all PGIM programmes are listed in the service minute of the Ministry of Health (MoH) and are considered by the MoH for incentives and promotions.
7. Where can I obtain information on career prospects related to a specialty?
You may refer to the circular ( MoH circular ) published by the Ministry of Health (2020), on ‘the employment of specialists at different levels of hospitals’ as a guide for prospective specialist placements. You may also contact the Director of Tertiary Care Services (TCS) for more information.
8. Can I sit for a selection exam while on maternity leave?
If you have fulfilled all eligibility criteria prescribed for the relevant exam, you may apply for the examination.
9. Is a trainee eligible for any leave other than maternity from a study programme?
In addition to 14 days of annual leave (the resulting shortfall in a component will have to be completed in accordance with the prospectus), trainees are also entitled to a maximum of 02 years of personal leave. Further, trainees are entitled to paternity leave under the provisions of public administration circulars.

10. Are there any drawbacks to leaving a study programme prior to completion?
If a trainee leaves the course before completion of a programme/course of study, he/she shall not be permitted to sit for another selection examination for a minimum period of two years from the date of leaving the programme/course of study. This rule shall not apply to online and part-time courses.

11. If I obtained maternity leave, will I not be able to sit for the final examination with my batch?
Loss of training due to maternity leave should be completed. Trainees are required to complete the maximum possible training before the exam, with 80% attendance being the minimum. You may contact the management assistant (MAA) assigned to your discipline at the academic department to assess your eligibility. Click on the link below for further details.
12. Can I sit for the final exam while on maternity leave?
If the following criteria have been fulfilled you are eligible to sit for the final examination.
- Attendance at clinical and practical training should be completed in full in accordance with the prospectus and section 10 above.
- A minimum of 80% attendance at organized teaching sessions
